What is CapsulePad?
CapsulePad is a native macOS menu-bar app for sticky notes. A thin pill of colored notes docks to the edge of your screen and fans out into labeled tabs when your pointer gets close — click one to open that note full-size.
When is it coming out?
CapsulePad is in final testing ahead of its Mac App Store debut. There's no fixed date yet — check back here, or follow along for the announcement.
Does it require an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for. Install it, and it's ready — no login, ever.
How does the edge dock work?
CapsulePad sits as a thin collapsed pill against your screen's left or right edge, with one short colored dash per note. Move your pointer close and the one nearest note fans out into a labeled tab you can click to open. Prefer the keyboard? ⌥⌘A opens the full notes list instead.
Can I use it entirely with the keyboard?
Mostly, yes. ⌥⌘N creates a new note, ⌥⌘A opens the combined Notes & Settings window, and ⌥⌘L archives whichever note window is frontmost — all through the classic Carbon Hot Key API, so CapsulePad never needs Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission.
Do my notes sync across my Macs?
Yes, if you turn on "Sync with iCloud" in Settings — CapsulePad mirrors your notes through your own iCloud account, and a live folder watcher picks up another Mac's changes while the app is open, not just at launch.
Is there an iPhone or iPad version?
Not yet. CapsulePad starts as a Mac menu-bar app; an iPhone & iPad companion is planned for later.
Is my data private?
Yes. CapsulePad has no server, no account, and no analytics. Your notes stay on your Mac, and sync only through your own iCloud account if you enable it. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
What does it require?
A Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. The Liquid Glass styling activates on macOS 26, with material fallbacks on 14–25.
